Greetings, Klein ISD and welcome to the first 90-second news video.

For those of you I've not met, my name is Bret Champion and I have the distinct pleasure of serving as the superintendent for Klein ISD.

Over the last few months, I've been impressed by the people I've met. Klein's a wonderful district with an incredibly supportive community.

I've developed an Entry Plan that's available online and in that plan I set aside the first 100 days as a listening opportunity so I can learn more about this incredible place.

In scheduling opportunities to meet with different groups, I quickly discovered that meeting rooms are at a premium during the summer months.

Klein ID teachers, administrators, and staff are gearing up for the next school year.

That's right! Summer months aren't spent relaxing on the lake, shopping, or traveling. No, you're more likely to see Klein ISD employees at the multipurpose center...

...attending Google for Education Certification training, writing science curriculum, or mastering new technology tools and learning how to incorporate them into their lessons.

In fact, as of July 29, our staff attended more than 510 sessions and earned more that 66,000 hours of professional development training.

Of course, we hope our staff members take time off to rest and maybe even go on a vacation.

This downtime is a good thing allowing them to relax and recharge for the next school year.

Each year we start fresh with a new group of eager faces and in Klein ISD we work hard each day to set our students up for success.

Summer professional development allows us to reassess, retool, and refocus so we can give our all to all our students. They deserve it!
