Welcome to the University of New Mexico

A lot has changed since I went to school here

I got my bachelors degree and my doctorate degree here

I can confidently say you've chosen an exceptional university as distinct as each one of you

Your experiences over the next 4 years will shape your future

When you come to the university you want to have your major plus one

Something that goes beyond what you do in your ordinary course of studying here

So if your going to be a History major, thats great, but then find something else that extends you beyond being a History major

Whether thats being in the chorus, being a journalist, whatever it is find something that gives you greater depth in the university experience

You want to find something that your engaged in, something you love

or you want to find something that maybe your uncomfortable with

something you've never done before, and let those two things pull you in both ways.

That way you get the full depth of what a university provides you

This is an exciting place that has something for everybody

and something that can challenge everybody and every student should take advantage of it

The greatest thing about being a part of The University of New Mexico, of course is becoming a Lobo

Being a part of the pack that will stay with you for the rest of your life

Your going to meet people here that will change you

You'll meet people here that will extend you

You'll meet people that will be your friends for the rest of your life
