How to Record Your PC Screen With OBS for Free

We've talked about screencasting in the past and have even recommended some tools that you can use. One of those is Screencast-O-Matic, which does a lot of what you would want out of a screen recording software.

We'll start by downloading the software from http://www.obsproject.com, installing it on your computer, and running it to create a new project for streaming.

To get everything set up, we'll start by adding sources. We'll add one for the 'Display Capture' -- which gives us the desktop. We'll add another for the 'Video Capture Device' -- which gives us a webcam.

If you want to make sure that the video appears on top of the desktop image, make sure that 'Video Capture Device' is at the top of your list.

Next, we take a look at the output tab. This shows where our video files are stored. You can also edit the file type we store our videos.

Next, we'll check the audio. You can adjust the system's audio level and also the mic's volume here.
