Dietrich Bonhoeffer once stated, “By judging others we blind ourselves to our own evil and to the grace which others are just as entitled to as we are.” His words are wise. Too often we allow our judgments of people to change our actions or alter our respect for them. We must, instead, understand our actions and assumptions regarding others are interconnected with our success. The motto of Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School in New Jersey provides a good perspective: “Whatever hurts my brother hurts me and whatever helps my brother helps me.” I challenge you today to embrace the interdependent nature of this world by judging less and loving more. I’m Mac Hammond, and this is the Winner’s Minute.
