Hello, Klein ISD. I'm in a Lemm Elementary classroom that's housed in Klein Cain High School.

Wanted to give you a quick update on Hurricane Harvey and Klein ISD.

First, let me tell you how proud I am of our students and staff...

...who have rallied around this community, wrapped our arms around each other, lifted each other up as we work through Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath.

So proud of this community. So proud to be part of this community.

As a school system, we asked ourselves, "What is it that we can do for next steps in this situation?"

And where we landed was, we're equipped to provide a safe and stable environment for so many people.

That's what we want to do. You know that we're providing free breakfast and free lunch for every student who walks in the door to our schools on Wednesday.

But y'all know that schools are more than just about learning and lunch.

So we have a great team of school nurses and counselors and school psychologists ready to assist our students and our staff. And also, of course, our amazing teachers.

We've reached out to our teachers and made sure that they're going to be able to be here on Wednesday.

I'm so very pleased to report that over 4,100 of them are going to be here on Wednesday.

Which means that around 128 are still not able to. We're rallying around those particular individuals...

...taking care of them. Just like we are prepared to rally around every student who may need to be rallied around.

We want to connect individual needs with the community resources that are out here.

If you're in a situation where you can't make it to school, parents. Don't worry about it.

You take care of the situation that you have at hand. Whenever you're ready to make the transition...

...we're ready to welcome your student back.

And we'll be excited to do so.

That's where we are right now in Klein ISD.

I can tell you, having been out in the commuity...

...it has been an amazing thing to watch Promise2Purpose become action throughout our community.
