Base Notes – Sandalwood, Patchouli, Amber Middle Notes – Clove, Marjoram, Thyme Top Notes – Lemon, Cassis In the James Bond novel On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Ian Fleming mentions Eucris, a fragrance by Geo. F. Trumper, the gentleman's barbers and perfumers of London, and it recently was discovered that in the movie SkyFall, James Bond is probably using Geo. F. Trumper Eucris shaving soap and shaving brush. Eucris Fragrance In the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Trumper is mentioned when Bond visits Marc-Ange Draco in Marseille and finds Eucris in his bathroom. "Bond thought it time to make some show of independence. He said firmly, 'Un moment, je vous en prie,' and went into the bathroom and cleaned himself up - amused to notice that the soap was that most English of soaps, Pears Transparent, and that there was a bottle of Mr Trumper's 'Eucris' beside the very masculine brush and comb by Kent. Marc-Ange was indeed making his English guest feel at home!" - Ian Fleming, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, 1963 Fleming was very familiar with Trumper’s. It is said that Ian Fleming himself was one of many British security intelligence agents that frequented the Curzon Street barbershop, since the British secret service was located on the same street. Pears Soap One of the other products mentioned in the same paragraph as Eucris, is Pears Transparent Soap, a brand founded in 1806. Pears soap was quite a unique soap, produced by Andrew Pears in a factory just off Oxford Street, London. The Pears Transparent Soap was the first mass-market transparent (translucent) soap and is still produced today although since 2009, the way it is made has completely changed. So if you want to wash like Bond, you would need to find a 'New Old Stock' to get the 'real' Pears soap as mentioned by Fleming. Kent Brush and Comb Kent is another British heritage brand, a family business, producing handmade brushes since 1777. The company is still around today, with brushes and combs available on their website and in stores around the UK. Eucris Shaving Soap in Black Wooden Bowl and shaving brush In the movie SkyFall (2012), James Bond (Daniel Craig) is using a brush to put soap on his face before shaving with a Dovo straight razor. The wooden bowl is black, just like the other Eucris collection bottles and packaging. It is assumed that Bond uses a Geo. F. Trumper badger hair black shaving brush with the soap. In the prop display, the black brush had a Geo F Trumper text on the side, but the text and font are not like any of the current brushes offered by Geo F Trumper. Trumper was founded in the late 19th century on 9 Curzon Street, Mayfair, London, a shop that still exists today. In the 1940s, a second location was added on the famous Jermyn Street, St James’s. That store recently moved to Duke of York Street, just off Jermyn Street. It is said that Ian Fleming himself was one of many British security intelligence agents that frequented the Curzon Street barbershop, since the British secret service was located on the same street.
