What a timeline we’re in, but what if I told you that despite the animosity between the two that we’ll get to, Curry and Paul started out as student-teacher.

Curry grew up in Charlotte, Chris Paul was the best point guard in the league on the Hornets. Paul was literally an idol.

In 2008, LeBron held a summer camp with college stars like Harden and Curry. One of the guests that came was Chris Paul, a mentor.

Curry even attended Chris Paul’s 2010 summer camp as a guest.

They would get compared a whole lot more later on.

So when the Warriors and Clippers faced off in the 2014 playoffs, Clippers forward Matt Barnes said it was “"Kind of almost like a little brother situation” the Warriors were the underdogs, yet shocked the NBA community when their 3 point style got them game 1.

Chris pulled his hamstring in Game 1 which would limit him a bit.

Throughout the series Curry and Chris Paul would battle it out leading to a tight Game 3. Young Curry playmaking was different, so was lob city. These guys did not like each other, Green and Jordan got into it, Iguoadala was dunking…damn.

The Warriors would continue to battle, but the Clippers would win in 7 grueling games. But throughout that series, Curry proved that Paul could not guard him.

Stephen Curry and the Warriors took the next step, going 67 and 15, and their games with the Clippers were iconic. Steph Curry was doing things we had never seen, especially against Chris including crossing him up without looking at him.

And that wasn’t the only play against CP3, Steph had so many ridiculous plays against CP3, SI put together a top 5 list

Considering CP3 was one of the best defensive point guards in the NBA that time, the internet went crazy.

And while the Warriors would run through the West, the Clippers would lose in the first round. The Warriors might have not beenn light years ahead of everyone, but they seemed light years ahead of the Clippers and Curry was now the best point guard in the league, in conversations for the best player in the league and that might have been a tipping point.

The series was back and forth. In Game 3, Steph Curry puts on a show against Harden, hits this deep 3, and shimmies.

In Game 5, CP3 hits an insane three over Curry and shimmies at Curry, staring right at him. Yeah he was done with over the years. But Paul would get hurt in Game 5 and even though the Rockets were up 3-2, they lose both Game 6 and 7. And Curry wins another ring.

It was a hard pill for Paul to swallow. Steph even beat CP3 in family feud that summer.

But here’s where the pettiness goes up another level.

On February 2020, CP3 is doing an interview with Taylor Rook and is asked to build the ultimate point guard and he’s what he said. Hold up, did he say Steve Nash for shooting and not Curry in the year 2020? Ok

Not exactly because on March 13, 2023, Paul’s guarding Curry, can’t and Curry hits this and-one. And he screams this ain’t 2014 no more referencing that 2014 playoff series and potentially the no call at the end of Game 3.

The rivalry is over, or so we think.
