00:16.7
A big passion-project of mine are the youth-base workshops.
00:17.9
00:27.7
On those days, when young adults meet, you can feel a huge amount of joy welling up,
00:27.8
00:31.2
because when those young people begin reading for themselves,
00:31.3
00:36.3
it generates a lot of self-confidence inside them.
00:36.4
00:40.8
It builds up a young adult's self-esteem when they hear what they are capable of,
00:40.9
00:44.6
how good they are, what their skills are,
00:44.7
00:52.0
and that's what these few days are all about, for these young adults to explore their strengths, their capabilities,
00:52.1
00:56.9
where can I go career-wise? Is a degree really something for me?
00:57.0
01:04.4
Should I rather learn a trade, or work with people? Finding out these fundamental things
01:04.5
01:10.2
are what this time is all about. Everybody for themselves, and also together.
01:10.3
01:16.4
And through that emerges this bond, a certain sense of togetherness,
01:16.5
01:21.3
that feeling when a clique has been together for years - that's exactly what it feels like.
01:21.4
01:28.5
This doesn't just make me happy myself, but that happiness spreads around and jumps from one to another.
01:28.6
01:31.9
Everyone feels comfortable, cared for and protected.
01:32.0
01:34.8
And that remains so even after those days.
01:34.9
01:41.1
At the last youth-base workshop, they started a whatsapp-group that is still active even today,
01:41.2
01:46.0
where they communicate, and support each other
01:46.1
01:53.4
and that is totally valuable, and for me, I don't want to speak about it in a humble sort of way,
01:53.5
02:00.8
but when I think about how I could have had that, how cool would that have been, how nice would that have been!
02:00.9
02:07.2
And how much it could have spared me, the one or the other degree that I started and then dropped,
02:07.3
02:12.1
because I realized that, okay, this isn't something for me after all.
02:12.2
02:19.7
I wouldn't have gone in circles, and just sensed, is this for me, does it suit me?
02:19.8
02:24.6
If the answer was no, I would've looked for something else or asked someone else.
02:24.7
02:30.2
"Hey, what's your take on this?" What should I do, or, what do I feel comfortable doing?
02:30.3
02:37.1
We can make it so much easier for ourselves, and the sooner we discover that it can be easier,
02:37.2
02:40.3
the more comfortable life becomes.
02:40.4
02:47.7
And it's so enriching to ask what it's actually about,
02:47.8
02:54.4
or to just ask, okay, I have an english exam tomorrow - what should I go over one more time?
02:54.5
02:58.3
So I can write a good grade on it, so that everything runs smoothly,
02:58.4
03:01.1
since in this case all the information is already provided for.
03:03.3
03:09.1
As soon as the teacher writes down the exam questions, they can be recalled on any occasion - unless he explicitly keeps them hidden.
03:09.3
03:12.5
Most of them don't do that.
03:12.6
03:17.4
My life changed very much thanks to MFL.
03:20.7
03:27.1
Starting with the fact that I used to feel life was hard,
03:27.2
03:33.4
or that it was something I had to master no matter what,
03:33.5
03:38.0
but it never occured to me that it can be easier and that change can happen easily...
03:38.1
03:41.0
I wouldn't have thought of that.
03:41.1
03:49.4
And this method, MFL, helped me, and moreover supports me to get to know myself better.
03:49.5
03:54.3
It supports me in that it helps me realize what kind of potential I have sleeping inside of me,
03:54.4
03:56.6
all the things that want to come out into the world through me.
03:56.7
04:04.4
And that's why it's such a big desire of mine to work with adolescents, the young people.
