Title:
Description:
The first week postpartum is overwhelming! Mothers are not only sleep deprived, but their body has to go from making a few teaspoons of breast milk (colostrum) to making half a liter a day by day five postpartum! Crazy! Most mothers will feel breast fullness on day 3 after birth and then painful, uncomfortable breast engorgement on days 4 and 5. In this video, we use our breastfeeding simulator, the Advanced Lactation Simulation Model, to demonstrate three useful breast massage techniques for management of postpartum breast engorgement. The physiology of engorgement, milk coming in, and lactogenesis II are described in our lactation physiology video series: https://youtu.be/DHl_r6AAW-k Did you know that the LiquidGoldConcept Lactation Simulation Model (LSM) is the ONLY simulator that can be engorged to mimic postpartum engorgement or oversupply.
