<< the term 'huns' refers to the Asiatic Tartars that overran Europe in the 4th and 5th century, the Europeans called them 'barbarians'. The Chinese-English dictionary that I use refer to '胡' as the non-Han (or non-Qin in time of the Qin empire) nationalities that lived in the north and west in ancient times.>>
Both are correct, and it is widely theorized that the nomadic Huns are indeed the 胡人 (also called 匈奴) of upper Asia. The full historical phrase is "亡秦者, 胡也," meaning the "Destroyers of Qin, the Huns will be." Basically, that the Huns are destined to invade and destroy the Qin empire.


Meng Tian: 兹事体大，八百里加急火速禀报皇帝陛下

There's something that I've been thinking about for a while. That Ocean Moon Villa's special dish.
鱼翅烹熊掌，听说只有主厨一人知晓秘方
Bear paw served on fish fins, I've heard that only the chef knew the secret recipe.
烹饪之时甚至要关门闭户
During the cooking process, the doors and windows even had to be closed.
也就是说，这世上除了主厨本人
That's also to say, in this world, other than the chef himself,

Without the least bit of difference.
Zhang Han: 此人是谁?
Who is this person?
Li Si: 他就是在桑海城堪称食神的庖丁
He is called the god of food in Sanghai, Pao Ding.
有间客栈的主人
The owner of Youjian Inn. (I'm not sure what translation sapphiresky used, but the name means that it's an inn that always has rooms available)

Zhang Liang: 各位清就此停手，这是一场误会
Everybody, please stop, this was a misunderstanding.
盗跖兄被擒，是他和我的一个约定
The capture of our comrade Dao Zhi, this was an arrangement between him and me.
Da Tiechui: 张艮先生，你这，这这这... 又是演的哪一出啊?
Master Zhang Liang, you, this, this this this....what kind of play was it this time?
Old Ban: 为了找到疤丁的下落

He was also afraid of making everyone worry, so he had me not reveal anything.
兵行险招也是迫不得已
Battle formations, risky ploys, we had no choice,
因为这次我们的对手是章邯
because this time our opponent is Zhang Han.

This Zhang Han, what exactly are his origins?
Ge Nie: 章邯，是近年来继蒙恬之后

The general is implying, the Confucian school and the Mohist school's rebels are secretly in collusion and harboring dissent in their hearts.
Zhang Han: 未將只是说从破案的角度，不能放过任何线索
This lower commander is only saying that from the perspective of solving the case, we must not disregard any clue.
公子请看[He gives the Prince a scroll]
Prince, please look.
墨家上一任巨子燕丹死在机关城后
After the Mohist school's previous leader Yan Dan died in the Machinery City,
这个叫天明的小孩己经秘密继任了巨子之位
this child called Tianming has already secretly succeeded to the position of leader.

Being in fact, the descendent of five generations of officials in the Han kingdom, with close affiliations with Quicksand's leader Wei Zhuang.
Li Si: 其实还有一件事，或可印证将军所言
Actually there is one other thing, that could possibly confirm what the general says.
Fusu: 哦 李大人请讲
Oh, please speak, Minister.
Li Si: 海月小筑这道名菜，沧海映泰岳，鱼翅烹熊掌
This famous dish of the Ocean Moon Villa's, "the azure ocean reflects the grand mountains, bear paw served on fish fins."
这两句话当初正是儒家掌门伏念所起
These two phrases were initially so named by the Confucian school's leader, Fu Nian.
此莱名出目孟子，中的名句
This dish's name comes from a famous line from Meng Zi
正所谓鱼与熊掌不可兼得，而它所暗拮的是
It actually means that fish and bear paw cannot be possessed at the same time, and its hidden meaning is:
生，我所欲也，义我所欲也，二者不可兼得
"Life, I long for, justice I long for, I cannot have both."


Fusu: 舍生而取义
Sacrifice life to attain justice.
