But by adopting a few healthy habits for kidneys, you can assure long-lasting kidney function and delay the risk of ESRD. Remember that prevention is always better than a cure. Here are some things you can do to keeping your kidneys healthy Stay hydrated: Hydration is the first step to cleanse kidneys of the various toxins that build within. More the fluid you take, the more the urine and hence less load on your kidneys. Consuming 3 to 4 liters of water each day should be your top fitness priority. Besides, say no to carbonated drinks as much as you can. Food: Another critical factor in the extremity of kidney disease is a diet. Yes, you will be amazed to know that your kidneys eliminate the toxins that get produced with food consumption. Heavier your diet with sodium, protein, phosphorus, and potassium, which extra work on your kidneys to remove them. Consume only healthy food for kidneys. Preferably consume home-cooked food. Avoid canned foods and take only a limited portion of animal sources of protein. Fresh vegetables like bottle gourds, Indian round gourds, pointed gourds, green pumpkin, etc., should be included in your kidney-friendly diet.
