On 7 th August 2020 a Boeing 737-800 aircraft of Air India Express, flight No.IX 1344 from Dubai to Calicut had crashed during landing in Calicut airport. During landing there was heavy rain and cross wind. It was a repeated attempt by the pilot to land on the table top runway 10. Pilot could not control the aircraft due to the heavy rain and cross wind and skids off the runway and fell in to the valley 35 feet down splitting in to two. Both the pilots were killed and a total number of 15 passengers lost their life. The accident could have been avoided. As per the preliminary reports, the condition was not suitable to land and the aircraft could have diverted to another airport.
