In this edition of 90 Second News... you'll hear about some of the highlights from last night's Board of Trustees meeting. Stay tuned.

One thing I look forward to at our Board meetings is the introduction of outstanding students and teachers.

Last night was no exception.

Terrific students from Benignus Elementary and Hildebrandt Intermediate were introduced along with an amazing teacher from each school.

I love seeing thr proud parents and family in the audience as these future and current leaders are introduced.

The Board also recognized IvesTex Credit Union with a Stand Up for Texas Public Schools award.

We are blessed to have business partners like InvesTex who understand the importance of partnering with schools and education foundations to support our students.

The 2016 accountability district results were presented, including STAAR and end of course scores.

All campuses and the district received the highest rating of "Met Standard."

Other accountability reports, including distinction designations will be available later this month.

The Board approved Clay Huggins as principal of Kleb Intermediate...

and Thomas Hensley as principal of Doerre Intermediate.

Additionally, approval was given for Dayna Hernandez to assume the role of the executive director of teaching and learning for elementary.

And Kelly Schumacher as the executive director of teaching and learning for secondary.

These are all dynamic individuals and I'm looking forward to great things as they all help lead learning in Klein ISD.

Finally, I reported to the Board that on Saturday, we had 90 volunteers across the district for the Project Reach Out Walk.

And 16 students made a commitment to come back to school.

90 volunteers and 16 students. Hey that shows this district's heart and belief system that every student matters!
