In the past generations, we've already watched a lot of cartoons and fairytales in the television.

But some of it were revised to be appropriate and child-friendly for the young viewers.

In this video, we'll discuss one of the origins of the famours fairytale entitled "Cinderella".

I know that we've already mentioned this in one of previous videos,

but I want to give this an emphasis and share a more detailed and complete story.

In the version that we've watched when we were younger,

this is about a young lady named Cinderella.

She lives with her evil stepmother and two stepsisters.

Her mother died early which caused her father for second marriage.

And in an unexpected incident, her father also died.

Because of this, she received oppressive treatment and became a servant

of her stepmother and stepsisters.

As Cinderella isn't blood-related to them, they treated her differently.

The unfair thing is, Cinderella was supposed to inherit the house.

But because her father remarried, it all went to the hands of her evil stepmother.

One day, the Royal Castle sent invitations to the pretty ladies around town.

The prince ventures to find the lady he'll marry and be with in a lifetime.

Cinderella wanted to come and attend.

And she had already prepared her dress for the welcoming celebration.

But her evil stepsisters ruined her dress thinking its a threath to their chance of marrying the prince.

The stepsisters locked Cinderella at home as they went straight to the party.

Thankfully, with the help of some creatures and a fairy godmother,

Cinderella escaped and was given a gorgeous dress and a glass slippers.

Unfortunately, everything has its limit.

At exactly midnight, it will all disappear.

(At midnight) Cinderella rushed to leave the ball and in due to her being in a rush,

she slipped and left the glass slippers

which the prince used in finding Cinderella.

The next day, the prince sent the Grand duke to find the glass slippers' owner.

And the moment Cinderella wore the shoes, it fitted.

Cinderella and the prince got married, and lived happily ever after.

However, in the Grimm Brothers' version of Cinderella

you'll see the difference of both versions.

Even the ending would surely ruin your childhood memories.

And this is how the story started...

Similar to the Disney version, Cinderella's mother died and his mother remarried.

The reason was her father knew that Cinderella still wants mother figure.

yet, the one he married is the evil stepmother.

As we all knew in the Disney version, the stepsisters weren't pretty.

But in this version (Grimm Brothers'), the stepsisters were gorgeous.

They often ordered Cinderella around. They even steals her clothes and

even the furnitures in Cinderella's room.

There were circumstances that she wasn't given any food until she works hard for it.

The hurtful thing is, Cinderella sleeps near the fireplace when she was supposed to own the household.

That's why we can notice in this book's version, Cinderella always looks dirty.

One day, her father was about leave for a business trip.

He always asked the ladies what they want.

The answers of the stepsisters were dresses and jewelry.

While Cinderella simply wanted the first twig of a tree that'll bump his father's head on the way home.

Did you know that at back of their house is where Cinderella's mother was burried?

She planted the twig that her father brought her near her mother's grave.

She waters it three times a day with her tears.

Eventually, it grew to a very nice tree that's inhabited by birds and other creatures.

What's amazing here is that the birds grant any wishes Cinderella makes.

Here it is, there's a celebration by the Royal Family.

And similar to Disney, they invited all the pretty ladies around the kingdom to find the prince's soon-to-be bride.

Cinderella really wanted to join the celebration but her stepmother will do anything to forbid her from coming.

Because of this, the stepmother took a basin of beans.

Then she threw it at the floor of the fireplace which was Cinderella's room.

She then said that Cinderella can only come if she managed to pick all the beans in a half an hour.

Luckily, with the help of the birds living on the tree that Cinderella planted, she managed to pick it all.

The stepmother was shocked because it was impossible to pick it all only in a half an hour.

What she did was to take 2 basins of beans and threw it at the floor again.

Then she said that Cinderella can only come if she managed to pick it in an hour and a half.

Like what happened earlier, she managed to finish early with the help of the birds but her stepmother being evil, she's still not allowed to come.

And here's where the story will get interesting.

Cinderella went to their backyard and went near her mother's grave.

While crying, she uttered a poem.

Unexpectedly, the birds brought her a beautiful dress

including jewelries made with silver and gold.

Did you know that the birds didn't gave a glass slippers?

What's stated in the book is that it was a pair of gold shoes.

Now that her stuffs were complete, she prepared to come to the celebration

looking so pretty and elegant that she can't be recognized anymore.

Unlike in Disney where the celebration only happened once...

But in this book version, it happened for 3 days.

On the first day, when Cinderella arrived, all attention shifted to her,

including the prince who danced with her all-night long.

When the first day ended, the prince wanted to accompany her home to ensure that she'll come hofe safely.

But Cinderella suddenly left as she doesn't want to let the prince know her life's state.

The prince tried to ran after Cinderella but he wasn't able to see where she went.

Cinderella also came on the second day of the celebration and also ran off from the prince on the way home after.

And on the third day, the prince outsmarted Cinderella.

He thought of a plan of putting sticky substance on the way where Cinderella usually ran off to.

Cinderella stepped on one of it and that's when she left one of the gold shoes she was wearing

which the prince eventually took.

The next morning, the prince ordered to find the owner of the shoes around the whole Kingdom.

As a WARNING! Here's where the story gets darker.

When the prince arrived at Cinderella's home, Cinderella wasn't around and unable to find her whereabouts.

The evil stepmother welcomed the prince. While the two evil stepsisters really wanted to wear the gold shoes.

Unluckily, it didn't fit the oldest sibling's foot because her great toe is actually big.

What her mother did is to bring her inside a room to cut her great toe.

When they left the room, she was already wearing the golden slippers.

And when the prince was about to bring her to the castle, he noticed that blood was dripping from the shoes.

He then realized that he was being fooled.

The next to try is the younger sibling (the other stepsister of Cinderella).

But her heel didn't fit. Because she was desperate, she cut off her heel until the golden shoe fits.

Just like her sister, she was caught on act.

Eventually, Cinderella appeared. She wore it and it fit exactly to her foot.

But this isn't where the story ends.

On the day of the prince and Cinderella's wedding, her two stepsisters thought of coming to show kindheartedness.

But did you know that the birds poket out the eyes of the stepsisters in anger?

which led to the stepsisters' lifetime blindness.

And here's where this story ends. But before I take a leave...
