The reactions to Annalena Baerbock's nomination as Chancellor candidate of the Greens met with approval, but also criticism from the other parties. Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) congratulated the Green politician. You can congratulate Merkel on behalf of her vice spokeswoman Ulrike Demmer. SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz also congratulated Baerbock: "I'm looking forward to an exciting and fair competition for the best concept for the future of our country," tweeted the Federal Finance Minister and Vice Chancellor. SPD General Secretary Lars Klingbeil congratulatedand said he was looking forward "to a fair competition with the Greens for the best ideas for the future". The SPD chairmen Saskia Esken and Norbert Walter-Borjans congratulated the Greens on their "amicable decision".
Left parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch said something similar. "Democracy lives from change, and changes are necessary." This includes that "we have to put an end to broken election promises," he tweeted, without specifying who the criticism is directed against.  
FDP party leader Christian Lindner also said he was looking forward to "exchanging political ideas in the election campaign" with Baerbock . "Now the only thing missing is the Union so that it finally comes down to content: There has never been more to do," tweeted Lindner, referring to the FDP's election manifesto.
