Zhenchu is selected to be Li Chu's  concubine (as planned), along with Cui who insists on marrying him.   Zhenchu is determined to find the boy who saved her when she was young and secretly do so in disguise. .Based on old sage's guidance, she is supposed to find out the origin and owner of the jade pendant in Khan state.   Cui doesn't want to share Li Chu with Zhenchu and her Mother instructs her servants to murder Zhenchu who is saved by Li Chu.  Zhenchu and Li Chu end up traveling together.  He tells her that in his family, marriage is for convenience not love.   Zhenchu tells him that she wants to marry the love of her life and that's more important than marrying a rich man or a prince (see his reaction!) but she has only limited time left to find the boy before she is married off.  The morning after the campfire,  Li Chu can't find Zhenchu and when she comes out of the bushes she said she went to the toilet and to change her clothes.  Li Chu innocently wonders and asks her what is she afraid of? There are only 3 men around haha.   Then she clumsily drops her things and he picks up a makeup box and starts to wonder what is going on.  He is a very smart person and starts to observe her closely in the carriage.  The closeup look at her ears (pierced), throat (no Adam's apple), upper lips (no mustache shadow) leads him to conclude that this person is really a girl in disguise.  He continues to look at her silently and she feels awkward and asks him why does he keep looking at her.  Quite realistic and funny to look at them.  This is what normal people do and it doesn’t feel like acting at all.  😊.  When they reach the bordertown, Li Chu hopes she stays safe and is reluctant to see her go.  He fakes a body ache just to keep her a few moments longer.  She cheerfully takes his hand and applies a remedy that her doctor Friend thought her (touching, even hands is a big deal but she feels like a boy and doesn't care but Li Chu does).  You can feel him falling in love slowly as he looks at Zhenchu when she relieves his body ache using acupressure. Again he just keeps looking at her.  Finally, he says ‘hope the person you’re looking for is worth your effort’. She says ‘if I don’t look I would never know if he is worth it’.. wow.  We can all guess what happen to them later but this shows how they think when it comes to love. It’s full devotion to the person in their minds.   They parted without knowing each other's full name or background.  Zhenchu travels to Khan state and ends up saving the Khan from being poisoned.  Li Chu also heads there to look for the missing person, Tong. I must say Allen Ren starts to impress me very much by now.  I know why this seemingly skinny, new actor and not so handsome guy is chosen to lead this drama.  He is very charming and his acting is top notch.
