Hardly there is a person who does not like to eat chocolate. Chocolate, one of nature's most delicious treats by way of the cocoa bean from which it's made. But if you are a kidney patient, should you be consuming chocolate? Of course not! Chocolate has some sorts of flavonoids and vitamins that make it hard for your kidneys to function properly. It has a high potassium content that increases the risk of potassium build-up in the blood as your kidney function is compromised. There are many health benefits of consuming chocolate, but these benefits do not overpower the harmful effects it pounders to kidney patient’s health. Binge consumption of chocolate during kidney disease may pose threat to your health including making it hard for you to sleep. If you are a diabetic patient, it may result in increased blood sugar level and also lets you put on weight. So, it should not be consumed during a CKD diet.
