Description:
Ravana was a demon king of Lanka and the chief antagonist in the Hindu epic Ramayana and its adaptations. In the Ramayana, Ravana is described to be the eldest son of sage Vishrava and Rakshasi Kaikeshi. He abducted Rama's wife Sita and took her to his kingdom of Lanka, where he held her as a prisoner in Ashok Vatika, and also expressed a desire to marry her. Later, Rama, with the support of vanara King Sugriva and his army of vanars, attacked Ravana in Lanka. They killed Ravana and Rama rescued his beloved wife Sita.Ravana is widely considered to be a symbol of evil, but he also had many qualities that made him a learned scholar. He was well-versed in the six shastras and the four Vedas.Ravana is considered to be the most revered devotee of Shiva. Images of Ravana are seen associated with Shiva at some places. He also appears in the Buddhist Mahayana text Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra, in Buddhist Ramayanas and Jatakas, as well as in Jain Ramayanas. In some scriptures, he is depicted as one of Vishnu’s cursed doorkeepers. The word Rāvaṇa (Sanskrit: रावण) means roaring opposite of Vaiśravaṇa meaning "hear distinctly" (passive). Both Ravana and Vaiśravaṇa, who is popularly known as Kubera, are considered to be patronymics derived as "sons of Vishrava". Rāvana was a title taken on later by Dashānana, and it means "screamer" in Sanskrit (Ravana would sing hymns).Further, roravana is Sanskrit for "loud roaring." In Abhinava Gupta's Krama Shaiva scripture, yāsām rāvanam is used as an expression to mean people who are truly aware in terms of the materialism of their environment. Ravana has many other popular names, such as Dasis Ravana, Dasis Sakvithi Maha Ravana, Dashaanan, Ravula, Lankeshwar, Lankeshwaran, Ravanasura, Ravanaeshwaran, and Eela Vendhar.Ravana is depicted and described as having ten heads, although sometimes he is shown with only nine heads, as he cut one off to convince Shiva. He is described as a devout follower of Shiva, a great scholar, a capable ruler and a maestro of the Veena. Ravana is also depicted as the author of the Ravana Samhita, a book on Hindu astrology, and the Arka Prakasham, a book on Siddha medicine and treatment. Ravana possessed a thorough knowledge of Siddha and political science. He is said to have possessed the nectar of immortality, which was stored inside his belly, thanks to a celestial boon by Brahma. Rambha :-Rambha in Hindu mythology is one of the prominent Apsaras, the magical and beautiful female beings in Devaloka. She is unrivalled in her accomplishments in the arts of dancing, music and beauty. She was born during the churning of the ocean. In Hindu legends, Rambha is frequently asked by the king of the Devas, Indra to break the tapasya of sages so that the intensity of their penance is tested against temptation, and also that the order of the three worlds remains undisturbed by any one's mystical powers. Once, she tried to disturb the penance of Rishi Vishwamitra, who wanted to become a Brahmarishi. Long before, the sage was seduced by Menaka, another nymph. When Vishwamitra realized that Indra had sent another nymph to lure him, he cursed Rambha to become a rock for 10,000 years till a Brahmin relieves her from the curse.Rambha is the wife of Nalakuvara, Kubera's son. When she visited Kailash to meet her husband, Ravana saw her. He was captivated by her beauty and dragged her into the bushes. She pleaded with Ravana to release her but her efforts could not save her from being raped. Rambha laying on the ground saw Ravana going back to his kingdom. Later Nalakuvara reached and saw his wife. In grief and anger, Nalakuvara cursed his uncle, Ravana to burst into seven pieces if he ever forced a woman. Other versions state that Rambha herself cursed Ravana. Ravana later kidnapped Sita forcefully and Sita was saved from Ravana's lust only due to the curse. His kidnapping of Sita later leads to his death at the hands of Lord Rama. #suryatalk Your queries :- Rama Ravana Rama and Ravana Ramayan Rambha and Ravana War between ram and Ravan Ram and Sita Lord Rama Balmiki Balmiki Ramayan Uttarkand रामायण राम राम और रावण रंभा की कहानी Lord Indra राम और रावण युद्ध Contact us : asktosuryatalk@gmail.com video :- Surya Voice :- Surya Image credit :- Google images Music :- Martian Cowboy Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Thanks for watching😊😊😊
