Description:
Is cheese good or bad for kidney patients? Cheese often adds a savor to the food. Whether it is pasta or pizza or Burger, its delicious taste can change the wholesome flavor. Most Italian foods will have cheese in them, but the usage of cheese is still limited in India. It is available in different forms, such as in India, it is very much popular as Indian Cheese. A healthy person can add cheese in any amount and relish the taste of the food. But when it comes to kidney patients, the choice gets narrowed down. During kidney disease, you are required to limit foods and drinks that may otherwise load your kidneys. You can only survive kidney disease if you are very specific about your health and a diet plan. Only a renal diet plan has the necessary minerals in a precise amount, designed keeping in mind your health. And cheese is never a part of the kidney-friendly diet, sadly. Cheese has enough of the phosphorus that can trouble your health. In fact, much of the dairy products have phosphorus in them. Cheese has 300 mg of phosphorus per serving. For a healthy person, phosphorus is a need since it makes bones and teeth strong and healthy. But during kidney disease, the excess phosphorus may buildup in your blood and cause multiple morbidities at the same time. Extra phosphorus pulls calcium out of your bones, making them weak. High phosphorus and calcium levels also lead to dangerous calcium deposits in blood vessels, lungs, eyes, kidneys, and heart. That means high phosphorus itself is a problem for your health. Certain cheese varieties have less than 100 mg of phosphorus per serving and may include; ● Brie (1 oz) ● Cream cheese (2 Tbsp) ● Goat (soft, 1 oz) ● Sharp cheddar (2/3 oz) ● Shredded parmesan (2 Tbsp) But it does not mean that you can include them in your diet without any worry. If ever your taste bud starts cursing you, you can have a little bit of them. Not only phosphorus, but cheese is also abundant in sodium content. Sodium is also restricted during kidney disease because that is related to high blood pressure, yet another cause of kidney disease.
