Last night's Board meeting was filled with Promise and Purpose.

I love it when a Board meeting begins with wonderful students & teachers...

...being recognized for their hard work.

Last night we were introduced to Lemm, Metzler & Ulrich honorees.

They represent such promise for our community.

The Board also recognized the aweseome TMEA All-State students and Klein High TMEA Honor Orchestra.

Associate Superintendent Curt Drouillard was recognized for his 37 years of service to Klein ISD.

We wish him well in his retirement.

Jason Bailey, a Klein Forest HS graduate, was honored as the alumni of the month.

And Fujitsu was presented with this month's TASB Stand Up for Texas Public Schools award.

One of the highlights of this month's meeting was the long-awaited approval of the 2017-2018 calendar.

As you know, two calendar options were developed around these priorities.

And in February, we presented these options for your input.

More than 4,000 responses were returned.

The results were within 100 votes of each other.

So almost split down the middle.

Ultimately, calendar "B" was chosen & approved by the Board...

...because it provides a great transition into the established priorities.

We're excited this calendar is a stronger one for student learning & professional development.

And thank you for your input.

We will be looking for ways to make the calendar even better next year with all the suggestions we received.

Finally, I had the pleasure of updating the Board on the strategic planning committee work.

More than 600 people applied to do this important work...

...and 70 dedicated folks were ultimately selected.

We've completed two of the planned five sessions.

We want to make this process transparent, so we set up a new website...
