Last night's board meeting was packed with excitement. Stay tuned for some of the highlights.

At last night's board meeting, Cathy Arellano and Rick Mann were sworn in.

The new Klenk principal and three support services directors were introduced.

The Klein ISD Education Foundation directors presented the campus grant winners...

...along with a big check for $76,800, representing the amount of grant funds distributed in this semester alone.

Nutrition and Food services were recognized for their recent excellent rating from the Texas Department of Agriculture.

And finally, Nancy Decker with the Cypress Creek FACE was honored with a TASB Stand Up for Texas Public Schools award.

The board also heard a report and voted to pursue a designation of Klein ISD as a District of Innovation.

In order to receive this designation, a district must design a local innovation plan to best meet our students' needs.

Districts of Innovation will have...

...greater local control as the decision makers over the educational and instructional model for students.

Increased flexibility, with accountability, relative to state mandates that govern educational programming.

And empowerment to think differently.

By becoming a District of Innovation, Klein ISD can better ensure our shared vision...

...of every student entering our system with a promise and exiting with a purpose will become a reality.

We want you to share your thoughts with us about the local innovation plan being developed collaboratively by teachers...

...and campus and district leaders.

A draft of the plan will post on Friday, December 16th on the district website.
