In this video I finally take my Golf GTI TCR on track to see if it can really fulfill the difficult brief of being a comfortable, efficient and practical daily driver while also being capable on track.  As a long time GTI owner (24 years) the launch of the TCR meant a lot to me because it promised enough power to be exciting (290 PS) but unlike the Clubsport S you still got the bits you expected from a Golf like parking sensors, cruise and of course back seats.

The GTI TCR was stock apart from the wheels and tyres:
These were BBS CH 8x18 ET44 with 235 40 18 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres
Sport mode on (inc. DCC, ESC Sport on (partially restricted), aircon was used throughout too.
99 RON Tesco Momentum fuel was used

The Edition 30 was driven at Bedford in 2018 and featured in VW Driver magazine as 'Project GTI';

304 bhp when tested at Stealth Racing in Summer 2018
Revo remap, Jetex 'Race' exhaust (one silencer), Jetex air filter, carbon air intake, NGK cooler plugs
Pedders suspension kit (shocks and springs)
SuperPro anti-lift kit (improves traction and stability)
R32 brakes front and rear with EBC grooved discs and Yellow Stuff pads
Goodridge braided brake hoses
The wheels and tyres were the same as those used on TCR but tyres were brand new at the time: BBS CH 8x18 ET44 with 235 40 18 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres

GTI Polo shirt worn on the day of the track driving is a very old stock genuine VW part which I bought from www.parts-depot.co.uk , they currently only have XL and XXL in white:
