Description:
Brian O'Connor and Carmen Ibanez mingle while their homosexual token tags along. Bernie Lomax is a mad scientist. Stereotypical high school jocks ruin Paul Walker's body, so Bernie picks him up and connects his brain to a knockoff Stan Winston animatronic. (John Carl Buechler of Carnosaur/Ghoulies/Troll fame did the makeup for this film. Imagine if he'd done the dinosaurs...) Hijinks and a visit from Pedro Sanchez the Pizza Dude await. The guy who directed Mac & Me is at the helm of all of this. Hold on to your butts... The film was completed by late 1993. One of the final additions was the shots of the water glasses, poking fun at the Jurassic Park trailer (which was obviously going to be another successful Spielberg film, so why not). A year later, on December 28, 1994, and two months after JP's home video release, the film was finally released onto videotape. Image put out a Laserdisc edition in March of 1995. Sound quality is really as bad as it sounds. The ADR stands out like a sore thumb and the overall mixing is mediocre at best. "Special" effects are used to make the robotic dinosaur move. This involves stretching and squishing the legs digitally. Rigging that old theme park animatronic misfit would've been way too expensive. Jurassic Park was released in 1993 with a budget of 63 million dollars. This couldn't be any more expensive than 3 million.. This tape is very grainy and has some nasty flaws as is typical with Imperial's small amount of releases. The absurdly rare Laserdisc from Image doesn't fare much better, using the same grainy transfer. I was using a crappy capture card so the frame rate sort of drops at points. I'll do a Laserdisc transfer sometime later. All rights belong to Imperial Entertainment... er... whoever the copyright belongs to now?? It's not public domain.
