Your Transfer Adviser creates a ‘Final’ version of your template,

which is processed by a Catalogue Loader at The National Archives.

This will carry out further checks to spot errors

such as misspelling or missing data.

We will generate reports to identify the presence of enclosures

such as maps.

We will also record names and places.

We will produce error reports to identify missing data

or incorrect place names.

The computer system formats and prepares the data

for our catalogue, Discovery.

The data is loaded into Discovery.

At the end of this process,

your physical files are stored in one of our repositories

and the location is stored on The National Archives' computer systems

to enable the retrieval of each piece or item.

The catalogue data for these files will then be displayed on Discovery

for researchers to browse.
