00:02.3
Are you new to Lemnis Gate?
00:02.3
00:05.7
Are you looking at this game going, "Yeah, it looks kinda fun,
00:05.8
00:09.8
but what do you mean it's a 'turn-based FPS'?
00:10.0
00:14.0
What does it mean to 'disrupt the past' and 'change the future'?"
00:14.1
00:17.9
Are you just confused on how time loop games work in the first place?
00:17.9
00:20.7
What I mean.. to be fair, I was too. BUT!
00:20.7
00:24.1
I'm going to help you, so let's get started!
00:24.9
00:27.1
So firstly, I've played this game quite a bit
00:27.1
00:31.2
and it is wicked fun once you start to understand it.
00:31.3
00:34.4
There is a steep, but rather small learning curve
00:34.5
00:38.2
when it comes to just thinking in four dimensions.
00:38.3
00:41.5
So, in a single match there are ten rounds,
00:41.6
00:45.1
and let's say that you and I are playing against each other.
00:45.1
00:48.7
So, I go first. I choose one of the many operatives.
00:48.8
00:54.3
I go about, I do my business for 25 seconds, maybe try to pick up some objectives...
00:54.4
00:57.2
While this is happening, you are watching. You're scheming.
00:57.3
01:01.2
Trying to poke holes in my plan, you're trying to get under my skin.
01:01.2
01:04.5
My 25 seconds are up, now it's your 25 seconds.
01:05.6
01:10.5
What I just did in my 25 seconds plays out right in front of you,
01:10.6
01:13.2
and this is what it means by 'disrupting the past'.
01:13.3
01:17.5
If I pick up my objective during my turn.. well, in *your* turn
01:17.6
01:20.7
you can kill my person *before* I pick up the objective.
01:20.8
01:24.6
Once your 25 seconds are up, it goes back to me, and I can use
01:24.7
01:28.5
any of the operatives, apart from the one I used in the first round.
01:29.1
01:32.4
And it just goes back and forth, back and forth, and essentially, every
01:32.5
01:36.2
25 seconds is *layered* on top of one another.
01:36.3
01:40.5
So the first round is only one operative, but then every round
01:40.5
01:44.7
we just keep adding one more each time until it is the tenth round
01:44.7
01:49.6
and it's your turn, and there are nine other operatives running around.
01:49.6
01:53.8
So you can, hopefully, see that it will get pretty hectic pretty quickly.
01:54.4
01:58.9
Have you got there? Great! Let's add one more layer of complexity.
01:58.9
02:02.4
So this is a shooter game, right? You're going to end up dying.
02:02.4
02:07.0
That's just inevitable. But this game isn't like the other games.
02:07.0
02:10.3
So, when you die, you'll notice it looks a little bit different,
02:10.4
02:14.0
and that's because you went into 'ghost mode', and that's fine.
02:14.0
02:18.5
Just keep playing as if you're alive, because if you're able to prevent that death
02:18.5
02:22.3
in the future rounds, then everything you just did in 'ghost mode'
02:22.3
02:26.0
um... comes true, shall we say. So you can see me playing here –
02:26.1
02:28.1
I pick up an objective, and then I die.
02:28.1
02:31.2
But I run back and return the objective anyway.
02:31.3
02:35.8
Even though I technically don't score, in the following rounds,
02:35.9
02:39.6
when I save him, I *do* return the objective and I score.
02:39.6
02:43.8
Now, look, this is probably *the* most complicated part of Lemnis Gate.
02:43.9
02:48.8
If you're still a little unsure, just drop me a comment below, and I'll reply to you.
02:50.3
02:54.2
Now, you might be thinking, "Whoa, hold on.. whoever goes second
02:54.3
02:59.4
gets the last turn, and in which case, wouldn't they just win every time?"
02:59.4
03:01.8
And you know what? You'd be right!
03:01.8
03:04.7
Which is why the game is split up into two halves.
03:04.7
03:09.4
So if you end up going first in the first half, then you're at a disadvantage,
03:09.4
03:12.2
but that just means in the second half you'll be going second,
03:12.2
03:13.8
and you'll have the advantage.
03:13.8
03:17.4
You score points not just by taking the objectives, although
03:17.4
03:21.5
that should be your main focus, because, as you can see from the score board,
03:21.5
03:26.7
objectives are definitely worth the most, but you can also get points
03:26.7
03:32.1
through damage dealt and kills. So although you may tie when it comes to the objectives,
03:32.1
03:36.6
one of you may get more damage or kills, which would mean that you win.
03:36.6
03:40.8
And if you'd like to see a *really* close game when it comes down to just 1 point,
03:40.8
03:45.7
then click at the top here and watch that after this video, it is such a close game!
03:45.8
03:50.5
But anyway, I digress. So, yes, if you go second, you have the advantage,
03:50.6
03:54.3
but you each go second, so it evens out.
03:54.4
03:59.0
Now we come to the operatives. The flavour! The loose sprinkling on top!
03:59.7
04:03.4
All of the operatives have a unique weapon and ability,
04:03.4
04:06.8
which can be used multiple times throughout each loop.
04:06.9
04:11.6
Some are faster, some have better damage, some have better mobility,
04:11.6
04:15.8
and it's up to you to decide what operative is best for the situation.
04:15.9
04:20.6
They all feel really good and unique. None feel too overpowered
04:20.7
04:22.4
or anything like that.
04:22.5
04:25.7
And they're also not too difficult to pick up and master.
04:26.0
04:28.1
So, you have four separate game modes.
04:28.1
04:31.4
There's "Seek & Destroy". There's "Domination", in which,
04:31.4
04:37.1
instead of holding a point, you damage what they call a Particle Accelerator,
04:37.1
04:40.2
and once you've put enough damage into it, you capture it.
04:40.2
04:44.3
But your opponent can come along and put damage into it afterwards,
04:44.3
04:46.5
and then capture it for themselves.
04:46.5
04:51.2
You've also got "Retrieve XM", which is kind of like Capture the Flag,
04:51.2
04:56.7
except that there are multiple flags and they call these XM, or Exotic Matter.
04:56.7
04:59.9
So you pick these up and return to your base to score.
04:59.9
05:02.8
And then there is standard deathmatch mode.
05:02.8
05:07.7
Currently there are eight different maps, all of which are specific to a
05:07.7
05:12.1
certain game mode. Now, the cool thing about this is there are lots of
05:12.1
05:15.3
different match types as well. So you can see on the screen now,
05:15.3
05:19.8
you can do 1v1 turn-based or you can do simultaneously as well, so
05:19.9
05:23.0
you're both playing against each other in the same time loop.
05:23.0
05:27.7
And there's also 2v2, and there's lots of variations of this. So there's turn based:
05:27.7
05:32.1
you can do one where teammates play together, or maybe a more interesting one
05:32.1
05:36.3
where enemies play together. Or simultaneous, where *everyone* plays together!
05:36.4
05:42.4
I hope that I have sufficiently explained the time-looping madness of Lemnis Gate.
05:42.5
05:45.8
And please, if you have any questions, or if I wasn't clear enough,
