While searching for a trunk in the basement, Jamal Jenkins (Sheldon Turnipseed) and his dad (Samuel L. Jackson) unwittingly knock down a book open, releasing a spirit.

After helping his dad, Jamal sees what looks like monsters dancing in the park later that night.

While using the computer his sister gave to him before leaving to College, he sees strange messages appearing on the screen out of nowhere, while his sister can't.

The next day Jamal finds a button with the word "THABTO" and a coded message back in the park. After meeting Jamal, Lenni Frazier (Blaze Berdahl), finds words for a song she has written rearranging to form a message.

Jamal finds in his locker a warning message mentioning the fact he was in the park the night before and, while showing it to Lenni, both of them begin to see letters in a bulletin board forming a friendly warning.

They then decide to find out who ‒ or what ‒ is trying to contact them and why.
