#breakthroughjuniorchallenge #breakthroughjuniorchallenge2020 #physics #space #science #blackholes What is the geometry of the universe? What is the nature of light? What is the nature of the force of gravity? Is light a wave or a photon? What are black holes? Are stars really where they appear to be? Does light always travel in straight lines?... And a lot more is covered in this video. The topic of gravity bending light fascinates me because gravity is an invisible force which everyone can feel, while light is a visible wave which no one can feel. Although both have a ubiquitous presence and are of cardinal significance, only one can bend the other and not vice versa. This observation is one of the first considerable modification made to Newton's universal theory of gravitation which was established almost two centuries before Einstein's General theory of relativity. This sheds light on the fact that sometimes even the greatest scientific minds can make errors. Even though an error is a rare commodity in the world of science, it makes you entertain the possibility that in the future some of the most prominent scientific theories can be proven to be incorrect because they had their origin in misconception. The invisible force of gravity is a metaphor for the human mind which has the capacity to change and bend things that can't even be touched. This video is a submission for the Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2020. Acknowledgments Family, friends, and a stack of books arranged to function as a tripod, helped me in recording this video.
