Social activist-feminist, Ngurang Reena has been fighting against racism and discrimination faced by the minorities in India, mostly towards the people of the North-Eastern region. "People aren't born with racist ideas or attitudes," says Reena, onstage at TEDxXIE 2019. "Racism is something that is learned or acquired." In her eye-opening talk, Reena reveals the unspoken evidence of how racism has been killing youths across India- and offers resolutions on how it can be dealt with. Ngurang Reena is a former Assistant Professor of Miranda House, Delhi University. She is currently perusing her PhD research from Centre for European Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Recently she was a Joint-Sec candidate for JNUSU election 2018. She is a strong social activist-feminist from Arunachal Pradesh and constantly fights for rights in her state. She together with her sister, is the founder of Ngurang Learning Institute, an organisation working towards empowerment of tribal women in Arunachal Pradesh. She is also into spoken word poetry and often uses poetry as a tool for her activism, to raise awareness about the issues in her society and of the country.
