Here in Truckee we're at 6,000
feet of elevation. We have numerous
waterways, lakes and rivers which
freeze over in the wintertime and make
it challenging to perform any type of
rescue in those conditions.

When you're talking about time for a rescue
it's extremely important, because most of the
time you're dealing with about a 1 hour
window. So it's extremely important that
we have a boat that is easy to unload
and that can handle all of the
situations that we can be presented.

You can literally drop this boat on the
asphalt, go into the water, on snow, up on
ice, back into the water, back on land.
You're not restricted like you would be
in a regular boat.

Our number one priority is the safety of our
personnel and the safety of any victims that we
might be out rescuing. This boat, we feel
that all of our personnel will have
operated it safely because of its handling
characteristics, because of its safety
features. It has great flotation, a low
center of gravity, low motor, a unique
braking system. It has high free
board, which makes it extremely safe for
rougher type water. It's shaped like
a boat, it looks like a boat, it handles
like a boat. It's a priceless safety
rescue tool that we have in our
organization.

The quality of this boat, hands down,
is just absolutely incredible.
