Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the country's borders with Lithuania and Poland would be closed, during a speech at a women's forum titled "For Belarus" in Minsk, on Thursday.
The Belarusian leader also noted that the border with Ukraine would be strengthened.
"I do not want my country at war. Especially I do not want Belarus and the same Poland, Lithuania to turn into a theatre of military operations, where our issues will not be solved. That's why I want to address the people of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine in front of this hall of the most beautiful, advanced, patriotic people today: stop your crazy politicians, don't let them start a war," he said.
The head of state stressed that Belarus will not "be on our knees", even if the country is left on its own.
"We will not give away Belarus, because we love it and we do not give away the one we love," Lukashenko concluded.
